העיר תל אביב היא מקור השראה חשוב עבור אילנה אפרתי.
בקטלוג 1996/7 אילנה אפרתי התמקדה בניגודים המאפיינים את העיר תל אביב ואת תושביה. היא בחרה לצלם את האוסף על לקוחותיה, נשים מכל המידות והגילאים. הרעיון החדשני של 'נשים רגילות' במקום דוגמניות הקדים את זמנו, והשפיע על אחרים שהלכו בדרך דומה. הקטלוג צולם בחנות המותג אילנה אפרתי ברחוב דיזנגוף בתל אביב. לצד אוסף הבגדים, הקטלוג מציג את הניגודים הארכיטקטוניים בעיר, בתקופה בה החלו להבנות בה גורדי שחקים שלקחו את מקום השכונות הישנות.
בקטלוגים לשנים 1998-2001 אפרתי הציגה את אוספי הבגדים בתל אביב, העיר בה המעצבת נולדה ועובדת. קטלוג 1998, 'חומרי גלם', עוקב אחר בעלי מלאכה בתל אביב, סנדלר, חייט, טבחית ויצרן ליפות, שחנויותיהם הקטנות בדרום העיר נדחקו תחת הבניינים החדשים שהחלו להבנות בשנות ה-90. קטלוג שנת 2000 צולם בחוף הילטון בתל אביב, על רקע נופי הים של העיר. קטלוג שנת 2001 התמקד ברחוב דיזנגוף, כמחווה לרחוב בו אפרתי עובדת, מעצבת ומייצרת מאז שנת 1985. הרחוב שהיה למרכז התרבותי והחברתי של העיר איבד בשנים האחרונות מזוהרו. אפרתי ביקשה לספר מחדש את סיפורו של רחוב דיזנגוף ובחרה נקודות ציון מעוררות עניין ברחוב: בר יין ברברסקו, גלריה רוזנפלד, כיכר דיזנגוף, חנות פרחים וחנות ספרים.
Tel Aviv is a constant source of inspiration for Ilana Efrati. In catalog 1996/7 Ilana Efrati explored the contrasts that characterize Tel Aviv and its people. Efrati chose her clients as models, including women of all sizes and ages. This innovative catalog anticipated and inspired later trends of showing fashion on 'real women' rather than slim models. The catalog was shot in the brand shop in Dizengoff St. Next to the fashion shoots, Efrati documented the architectonic contrasts in Tel Aviv, at a time when new skyscrapers started to take the place of the old city quarters.
In her catalogs for 1998-2001 Efrati presented her fashion collections in Tel Aviv, her native city. In 1998 the catalog focused on ‘raw materials’, tracing the stories of local artisans, including a cobbler, a tailor, a cook and a producer of sponges. Their little workshops in the southern quarters of Tel Aviv were threatened by the rise of new skyscrapers that started to change the city’s character.In 2000, Efrati chose to shoot the catalog at Hilton Beach in Tel Aviv, an emblematic signpost in the city's landscape and culture. In the catalog for 2001 Efrati explored Dizengoff St, as a homage to the street where her boutique and workshop are located since 1985. Dizengoff St. used to be the cultural and social centre of Tel Aviv, but lately it had lost of its glamour. Efrati sought to re-tale the story of Dizengoff St. by selecting a series of interesting spots in the street, including Barbaresco wine bar, Rosenfeld art gallery, a florist, a book shop and Dizengoff Square.
