הפרשנות האישית של אילנה אפרתי ללבוש נשי מודרני מושפעת מה"שילוש הקדוש" של המלתחה הגברית הקלאסית: מכנסיים, חולצת אריג ומקטורן. אפרתי מתמחה בחיוט מרוכך היוצר מראה קליל ורענן המבוסס על שילוב בין איכות הגזרות ונוחות הלבישה. המלתחה החכמה המחויטת של אפרתי מורכבת מאוסף פריטים שניתן לערבב וללבוש. אלו פריטים שלא פג תוקפם, המבוססים על גזרות איכותיות ואריגים טבעיים בלבד תוך והקפדה על ביצוע באיכות בלתי מתפשרת.
מאז הקמת בית האופנה ועד היום כל שלבי ייצור הבגדים, מהעיצוב והתכנון ועד התפירה והגימור מתבצעים בבית המלאכה של המעצבת ברחוב דיזנגוף בתל אביב. הבגדים המחויטים של אפרתי מתייחדים בסגנון המתאים לחיים בתל אביב, לאקלימה הייחודי, ולתרבותה האקלקטית המחברת בין מערב למזרח. לדוגמא, המקטורנים של אפרתי עשויים מחומרים טבעיים, לעיתים ללא בטנה, וניתנים ללבוש ישירות על הגוף ללא חולצה.

האתגר שאפרתי הציבה לאופנה הישראלית בשיא התקופה ״היפנית״ היה לשוב ולהתמודד עם בגדים מחויטים באופן חדש ועכשוי. היא הציעה לנשות קריירה צעירות להתנסות בלבוש מוקפד, במידות מדויקות העשויות לפי גזרות הבנויות בדיגום לפי כללי החיוט הקלאסי. לאורך השנים, אפרתי יצרה סגנון עיצובי המזוהה עימה המבוסס על חיוט מרוכך המתאים לחיים העירוניים.

Ilana Efrati’s interpretation for modern women’s clothing is inspired by the “holy trinity” of classic menswear: trousers, shirt and jacket. Efrati’s expertise is ‘’soft tailoring’’, a light and fresh look based on elegant cuts, uncompromising quality and natural fabrics. She has created a long-lasting wardrobe of garments that are easy to mix and match.
Ilana Efrati Fashion House is based in Dizengoff St, in downtown Tel Aviv, where all phases of design and production take place. Efrati’s tailor-made garments are particularly suited for the climate and lifestyle of Tel aviv, a city where East and West meet in an eclectic fusion of cultures. For example, Efrati has created tailored jackets made of natural fabrics without lining that can be comfortably worn in summer.
In the 1980s, when Efrati founded her fashion house, Japanese designers led a global fashion trend based on the loose Asian silhouette, in a distinctly different look from Western classic tailoring. In its Israeli version, the Japanese trend emphasized dominant shoulders, loose and soft synthetic fabrics, one size and limited colour palette. Efrati’s challenge for Israeli fashion at the time was a modern and innovative return to tailor-made. She gave young professional women an opportunity to experience well-tailored garments, cut according to the classic traditions of menswear tailoring. In the following years, Efrati has perfected her unique style based on soft tailoring suited for modern urban life.
